About LGBT HERO

Who is LGBT HERO?

LGBT HERO is the national health and wellbeing charity dedicated to uplifting and supporting LGBTQ+ people. Every month we support over 100,000 people with trusted information, advice, and various forms of support to keep our community happy and healthy while campaigning to tackle the health and social inequalities our communities face.

We cover topics such as:

  • Mental health
  • Sexual health
  • Living with HIV
  • Coming out
  • Gender and sexuality
  • Hate Crime and discrimination
  • Alcohol and drugs
  • LGBTQ+ rights
  • Sexual Abuse and consent
  • And much more

What Does LGBT HERO Do?

LGBT HERO is all about making life better for LGBTQ+ folks by:

  1. Information: Sharing reliable, easy-to-understand info on everything from mental health to sexual health, coming out, gender and sexuality, hate crime, discrimination and more. Up to 100,000 people visit our website every month.

  2. Information and Support: Providing information and support via our group HangOuts, and peer-support to help with mental health, suicide prevention, living with HIV, coming out, gender and sexuality and fighting discrimination along with helping to tackle isolation, loneliness and helping to connect our communities. Our peer-support forums are used by over 30,000 people a month. We directly support over 1000 people a year with our peer-support groups and signpost over 250,000 people to mental and sexual wellbeing services each year.

  3. Training: Running educational programmes and workshops to spread awareness and knowledge about LGBTQ+ issues. We've helped to educated over 20,000 people since 1992.

  4. Campaigning: Leading the charge on important issues, tackling health and social inequalities, and breaking down stigmas to promote LGBTQ+ rights. Our campaigns are viewed by over 3 million people a year.

Why LGBT HERO Exists

LGBT HERO is here because LGBTQ+ people often face unfair challenges that can lead to poor health and tough lives. We aim to level the playing field, giving everyone the knowledge and support they need to live their best life. Our goal is a world where being LGBTQ+ doesn’t mean you have to deal with extra struggles just to be happy and healthy.

How You Can Support LGBT HERO

LGBT HERO thrives on community support. Here’s how you can make a difference:

  1. Donations: Your donations keep our services running and help us reach more people. Every bit counts! You can make a donation here

  2. Volunteering: Got some spare time? Volunteer with us and be part of the change. Your help is crucial.

  3. Fundraising: Join or organise fundraising events to support our cause. It’s a fun way to make a big impact. You can set up your own fundraiser here.

  4. Advocacy: Stand with us in our campaigns. Spread the word, join events, and push for policy changes that support LGBTQ+ rights.

If you'd like to get involved with LGBT HERO, email [email protected] for more info.

Making a difference

LGBT HERO has made a huge difference over the years. From campaigns that destigmatise health issues to initiatives that improve wellbeing and promote awareness, we’re all about creating positive change. Your support helps us continue these vital efforts, making life better for every LGBTQ+ person.

By supporting LGBT HERO, you're part of a movement that’s making real, lasting change.
