What is Forty & Beyond?

Forty and Beyond is an online peer-support community group for gay, bi and trans men aged 40 and over. We’re here to discuss and look beyond the issues that can keep us isolated and disconnected as we get older. This includes:

  • Beyond loneliness and isolation
  • Beyond empty connections
  • Beyond shame and stigma
  • Beyond highs and comedowns
  • Beyond the fear of intimacy
  • Beyond not feeling good enough
  • And much more.

We meet online on Zoom on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month 6 - 8pm.

Why is this group needed?

For many gay, bi and trans men, reaching 40 can bring a new set of challenges. Our social circles may start to shrink. The spaces we once felt connected to might no longer feel right for us. Some of us feel left behind, invisible, or unsure where we fit in anymore. These changes, alongside ongoing pressures around body image, sex, health, ageing, and relationships, can have a real impact on our wellbeing.

Many of us are quietly struggling with loneliness, addiction, low self-worth, or feeling like we’re no longer needed or seen. That’s why Forty & Beyond exists—to give us a space to talk about what’s really going on and reconnect in a way that feels safe, sober and supportive.

We know that connection changes lives. By coming together, we can build community with others who truly get it—because they’ve been through it too. This isn’t just about surviving. It’s about looking beyond the pain, the shame, and the silence, and finding strength in ourselves and in each other.

We believe you are more than how you feel right now. Together, we will create a space to reconnect with ourselves, with each other, and with our community.

What topics will you be covering?

Each session will address a different topic that may impact our daily lives, such as:

  • Emotional and mental health
  • Anxiety and social pressures
  • Sex and sexual health
  • Partying and drugs
  • Relationships and friendships
  • Body image and self-worth
  • And much more…

Join us every two weeks to help boost your wellbeing, create connections and meet other men like you.

We meet online on Zoom on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month 6 - 8pm.

Why come to an online group?

See below feedback from people who have attended our peer-support online groups:

  • "To connect with other men who have similar lived experiences."
  • "The online groups are a safe space to connect and share how we feel, without judgment."
  • "Socialising and connecting with other men can be really hard and awkward at times, I find it easier on a Zoom than in person."
  • "Gives me choice and freedom to schedule this in advance and something to look forward to."
  • "To feel less isolated and lonely by connecting with other men."
  • "By attending my emotional health and wellbeing improves."
  • "Making online friends and buddies to connect with."
