WE NEED YOU!

LGBT HERO is looking for people to give their time and energy in the fight for LGBTQ+ health and rights. As it stands much of our work is currently unfunded. This makes volunteers, fundraisers, and one-off donations key to continuing our sorely needed work.

We know that our work speaks to lot of people in our community,

Option 1: Write for us

At the moment we're building our online information hub, so we're looking for writers who can help us make content that is authentic, effective, and comes from the very community its designed to serve. Know a lot about trans mental health services? Are you a clinician or specialist who want to share their insights? Or are you just someone who wants to share their experiences of LGBTQ+ life to help other people? We'd love for you to contribute.

We understand that your time is valuable, and though both writers and moderators would be expected to make regular time commitments, the size and regularity of these is largely up to you. It's an exciting time to come on board as LGBT HERO expands its work and makes big strides for the LGBTQ+ community.

If any of this sounds like you, send an email to [email protected] outlining who you are, how you think you can help, and how much time you'd like to give.

Option 2: Become a Moderator

The OutLife Forums is a place where LGBTQ+ people come to talk about their lives and ask for advice and support. Supporters help us by responding to posts and moderating the forums so they remain a safe, and positive place for people in need. It's incredibly rewarding, and you can be a supporter from any location, which means you can contribute from the comfort of your sofa.

We provide full training to all Supporters on the forums, and allow them contribute at regular times that fit their schedule. Email [email protected] for more information.

Option 3: Newsletter

Not everyone knows what they can do or want to do straight away. By signing up to the LGBT HERO newsletter you'll be sent updates on what's happening with LGBT HERO and how you can get involved.

Option 4: Fundraise

Everyone loves a good fundraiser. EVERYONE. The main content you see on LGBT HERO is currently self-funded and every penny makes a difference to the breadth and scope of our work. Whether you want to run a half-marathon in our name, or have an idea for a fantastic event that could bring in donations, we'd like to hear from you! Some of the simplest ideas, like office bake sales, raise lots of dosh as well as being a tonne of fun for all involved.

Soon we'll be producing a fundraising pack filled with great ideas for you to sink your teeth into, but until then, feel free to suggest your own. Please let us know beforehand if you're planning to raise money for LGBT HERO by contacting [email protected].

Option 5: Donate

Donating is a quick (but very important) way of letting us help more people. Donations to LGBT HERO allow us to reach more people, affect more lives, and keep the day-to-day information and services we operate running. Anything you can spare makes a difference.

These are the principle four ways you can get involved. But if you can think of any other ways you'd like to help us out, then ping us a message at [email protected] and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
