Trans+ Movies and TV Shows This Trans Awareness Week we wanted to share our favourite movies and TV shows that feature trans stories and characters. Boy Meets Girl (movie) Boy Meets Girl is a poignant, sexy, romantic coming-of-age comedy about three 20-year-olds living in Kentucky. Robby (Michael Welch, Twilight) and his best friend since childhood, Ricky (Michelle Hendley), a gorgeous transgender girl, have never dated. Lamenting the lack of eligible bachelors, Ricky considers dating a girl. In walks Francesca (Alex Turshen), a beautiful young debutante waiting for her Marine fiancé to return from the war. Ricky and Francesca strike up a friendship, and maybe a little more, which forces Robby to face his true feelings for Ricky. Anything’s Possible Anything’s Possible is a delightfully modern Gen Z coming-of-age story that follows Kelsa, a confident high school girl who is trans, as she navigates through senior year. When her classmate Khal gets a crush on her, he musters up the courage to ask her out, despite the drama he knows it could cause. What transpires is a romance that showcases the joy, tenderness, and pain of young love. Clean Slate An old-school and outspoken car wash owner, is thrilled his estranged child is finally returning home to Alabama after 17 years. However, Henry has a lot of soul searching to do when the child he thought was a son returns as the determined, proud, trans woman, Desiree. Never Too Late to Come Out as Transgender: Heartfelt Stories A series of films about trans people's concerns about getting older and how they have navigated the NHS. This was made for the Trans Ageing and Care Project with My Genderation, to voice the stories and concerns of older trans people, a group who are finally able to grow old. they filmed with Dave and his partner Donna, with retired airline pilot Cat Burton, artist Annabelle and Fran, who no longer wishes to wait to live her life as a transgender woman. This project involved trans people every step of the way. Thanks to everyone involved. Close to You Elliot Page stars as a trans man who returns to his hometown for the first time in years. On his journey, he confronts his relationship with his family, reunites with a first love, and discovers a newfound confidence in himself. Pose In the New York of the late '80s and early '90s, this is a story of ball culture and the gay and trans community, the raging AIDS crisis, and capitalism. Disclosure An in-depth look at Hollywood's depiction of transgender people and the impact of those stories on transgender lives and American culture. Boy Meets Girl (TV series) Boy meets girl tells the story of the developing relationship between 26-year-old Leo and 40-year-old Judy. The script, by Elliott Kerrigan, was discovered through the Trans Comedy Award, a 2013 BBC talent search for scripts with positive portrayals of transgender characters. What would you add?
